KSD Katholischer Siedlungsdienst reg. ass. is the federal association of all 27 German catholic dioceses and further 48 churchly or churchly oriented housing companies. The KSD was founded in 1930 and refounded after 1945 and with main focus on coordinating housing activities of the Catholic Church. Today the 48 German companies as a whole administer approximately 130.000 apartments. Many of these apartments are built/designed for deprived families. The business area of the KSD members includes furthermore the building of houses and freehold flats for private purchasers (esp. for families) as well as the building of social property (nursing homes for elderly people, etc.), in particular for ecclesiastical institutions.
As a representative of members' interests, the KSD is involved in regional, national and european legislative procedures. The association informs the members about new rules, regulations and decrees. Furthermore, the KSD is a platform for demonstrating highly qualified practices. Pursuant to this, the KSD organises several congresses and events concerning ongoing questions at real estate sector. Current topics on the agenda are issues regarding to "power concepts" and "demographic challenge".
